Note from the owners...
To our valued customers we would like to thank you for coming to Tea Time and supporting us! We have been open for two and a half years now and continue to be amazed by how all of this has fallen into place. We never dreamed that we would open and own our own tearoom. We look back at the series of events that lead us to this opportunity. It has been a wonderful journey for both of us. We are so thankful to Amy Lawrence who owned and operated An Afternoon to Remember Teahouse in Newcastle, CA for 6 years! She hired both of us - two stay at home moms with no previous tearoom experience. She literally took a risk by hiring us. She took us under her wing and taught us by her example how to operate a tearoom. Chris Jennings was originally hired as a prep cook and worked her way up to becoming the Kitchen Manager at An Afternoon to Remember. Dena Macklin was hired as the Pastry Chef and Assistant Kitchen Manager.
It was a successful pairing as we neared the end of our time at An Afternoon to Remember, as we managed the kitchen together and formed a special friendship! It was June of 2009 that An Afternoon to Remember closed its doors. Chris took a year off after it’s closing. Dena Macklin went on to work at Highhand Café in Loomis, CA as the pastry chef for a year. During the summer of 2010 we were both contacted to help in the planning of a new tearoom. There are always reasons why things happen in life.. there are no coincidences. Due to many circumstances the tearoom was not able to open. Therefore, Dena began her mission of emailing area Bed and Breakfasts inquiring if they might be interested in sharing their facilities with a new tearoom. She received an email from Alfred Lee, the owner of Power’s Mansion Inn in Auburn, CA. He wanted to meet that very day! He was open to the idea of having a tearoom added to his facilities. The journey began! He has been a gracious landlord and provided his backing and support! We genuinely appreciate all that he has done for us.
Tea Time opened it's doors on October 22nd, 2010! It has been a whirlwind experience for Chris and I! We wear many hats at Tea Time as the cooks (all of our products are made from scratch), waitressing, hostessing, reservationists, accountants, grocery shoppers, gift shop suppliers, laundry washers, dishwashers, advertisers, tearoom decorators, table setters, florists, custodians, gardeners, etc. But, the KEY is we love what we do! We love coming to work each day and getting to meet each of you! We love making tea times special for you and your guests! We love seeing your smiles! We love being able to make memories for each of you! We feel so thankful for the opportunity to pamper each of you! You make TEA TIME successful! Your support is the greatest gift to us! We thank you! With much gratitude, Dena Macklin and Chris Jennings/Owners of Tea Time
